Churchill Falls, one of the world's largest underground hydro-electric generating stations is 238 km from Labrador West via the Trans Labrador Highway. Constructed in the 1960's, the station continues to be one of Canada's great success stories in engineering achievement.
Labrador West currently has 127 mw of recall power available for industrial development. With the development of the Lower Churchill, Labrador will have increased energy capacity.
The Economic Development Department is actively recruiting hydro intensive industries as customers for existing and future power supplies. Competitively priced power, in combination with a large inventory of industrial land, an efficient transportation infrastructure, a highly-skilled industrial workforce and attractive tax incentives; makes Labrador West an ideal location for large scale industrial development.
