Secondary Processing

The primary secondary processing activity in Labrador West is the production of iron ore concentrate and pellets which are recognized as world class for quality, consistency and clean chemistry. The major mining companies have taken aggressive steps in improving technology and producing a value added product in order to be competitive in the global market place. Over twenty-six customers world wide are serviced in a nearly "just in time" delivery mode for nine pellet types and three concentrate products to meet individual customer requirements. Future market growth will be in Direct Reduced (DR) pellets containing lower S102 (silica) content.

Access to affordable hydro, road and rail transportation networks to year round deep water ports, and an industrial culture positions Labrador West for increased secondary processing opportunities.
